• MIDTERM ELECTION SPECIAL ISSUE Nov. 1, 2022

The November issue published on Wednesday, October 24 called attention to the threat to American democracy from increased political violence on the part of White Supremacists, particularly for People of Color. If the threat to America is to be thwarted, readers were urged to support Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate from the states of Arizona, Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Colorado.

A clear example of increased political violence: On Friday, October 26, just two days after my blog decrying increasing political violence was published, Paul Pelosi, the 82 year old husband of U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was attacked in his home by a man armed with a hammer and suffered a fractured skull. Within minutes, MAGA Republican leaders fomented a torrent of conspiracy theories and lies to deflect and minimize the attack. The conspiracy theories included whether Pelosi and his assailant were gay lovers and whether the incident was manufactured by Democrats. Some MAGA Republicans, such as Donald Trump Jr. and Kari Lake, Arizona candidate for Governor, mocked the whole incident — while the injured Pelosi’s prognosis was for a slow, uncertain recovery. As to the twice impeached ex-president, he he has been uncharacteristically quiet.

VOTE AGAINST INCREASED POLITICAL VIOLENCE. VOTE DEMOCRATIC.
